Recorded ahead of the running 2:12:10 ahead of Gold Coast Marathon, Brady hosts the interview with Bernard Lagat hosted by Maurten, second fastest over 1500m. Bernard talks about his extensive career covering the goal to make the podium in the 1500m for the 2000 and 2004 Olympics, racing El Gourrouj and trying to replicate the success at Zurich at the Athens for Silver. Bernard recounts his long career starting with athletic family and the influence they had and the significance of the family record in the marathon. They chat about switching allegiances from Kenya to USA and a typical training week for the 1500m before dealing with the challenges for the 2008 Olympics running with Achilles problems in the 1500m and 5000m, then attempting to transition to the 10000m for 2016 before focusing on the 5000m.
Bernard share his special relationship with his coach James Li and stepping up to the marathon after Rio Olympics and what the tactics were ahead of choosing and racing the Gold Coast Marathon and his history with Eliud Kipchoge, giving his thoughts on the future track and field before fielding some audience questions including what he learnt from New York City Marathon and the best piece of advice he’s been given.

With Gold Coast Marathon next week, the boys close with their final predictions.
Eloise Wellings and Brad pick up from last week, heading into 2012 after the heartbreak of 2008 and talk about meeting Julius Achon from Uganda learning about his story and how it started Love Mercy. She shares how training with Julius, getting in rest days and less training days lead to winning Zatopek 2009
Eloise eventually made it to the Olympics and talks about the differences in training and preparation for London in 2012 and Rio in 2016 and how their performances differed and being in the state of flow for the Rio 10000m. Eloise also compares the Olympics and Commonwealth games and her life changing before and after becoming a mum.
She talks about her coaching under Nic Bideau in terms of session structure and mileage management, before talking about what the mission and programs of her foundation Lover Mercy do in Northern Uganda, the impact she’s had as a role model and who she takes inspiration from, her activities post Gold Coast Comm Games and making the move towards the marathon and what it means being a Shire girl.

The team give a new perspective highlights some of the performances at the NSW Cross Country Championships at Nowra and the Victorian Cross Country Championships at Bundoora, featuring promising returns from names such as Jenny Blundell and Bec Lowe as well as going into the conversations between Ellie and Makda Haji Harun during Bundoora.
A big discussion is around women runners dealing with harassment and criminal incidents, with Sophie sharing some difficult experiences, how she and her family worked through it and what actions that both women and men need to be doing to ensure better runner safety.
The show ends on a positive note, giving a preview the elite women’s field at Gold Coast Marathon doubling as the Oceania Marathon Championships featuring the likes of Milly Clark and Mel Panayiatou before discussing the other events and what Sophie and Ellie plan for the week ahead.

Brady chats with Runner’s Tribe columnist, journalist and author Len Johnson about his time in running and how he got into it via footy. Len shares with Brady how he made the transition from the 400m to marathon running via amateur footy, and the factors and series of events that lead to running his personal best of 2:19:32 at Fukuoka.
Len recounts his days of training alongside Rob De Castella under Pat Clohessy then answering how the stars of the 80’s would fair against the Africans of the modern era before looking back at his favourite moments from the 5 Olympic Games he was fortunate to attend as a journalist, as well as the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne with a cameo from Brady on Len’s hotel room floor. What stands out for Len was watching Cathy Freeman deal with the pressure before winning Gold in Sydney 2000. Brady asks Len his view on a number of topics revolving around athletics before closing with his recommendations for running related books, on what running means and has given to him.

Jessica Stenson (nee Trengove) joins Brady for a chat about getting into podcasts and on expecting her first child with husband Dylan before diving into her career of 12 marathons, starting at age 24 and making the debut at Nagoya 2012 that saw her qualify for the 2012 London Olympics. Jess talks about transitioning into the marathon at an earlier age and the relationship with coach Adam Didyk and having a moment in the middle of an Olympic Marathon. She talks about dealing with hot conditions in the Moscow World Championships and going through some injuries on the lead up to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, before going into her victory at Melbourne Marathon in 2015 and running the Rio Olympic Marathon while dealing with the ongoing fallout from that race as well as her two London marathons in 2017.
Jess then talks about her busy 2018 that saw her win another Commonwealth bronze before setting a personal best at the Gold Coast Marathon and then going on to set another personal best of 2:25:59 at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in October, going into the preparation of each one, while having the support and mentorship of some of Australia’s most storied runners.

Melissa Duncan joins Brad about her stellar start to 2019 that saw her headline at the National 5000m Championships, and World Cross Country in Aarhus, Denmark and how she came for running for Shiseido, how the corporate ekiden league works as a competition and in its recruitment as well as how she addresses the challenges of living in Japan.
Melissa takes it back into getting into the sport via her sister and dad, being varied throughout her school life and then the path to representing Australia at the World Championships, Relays and Commonwealth Games, ticking them off one by one. After 2014 she made the move to Canberra and training with Philo Saunders, qualifying for the Rio Olympics but dealing with the foot fracture that ultimately forced her to withdraw despite her best efforts. From that moment Melissa talks about taking the time to decompress, trying to enjoy getting back into running with a new perspective gained that shapes her future direction.

The interview with Rod Dixon continues from the Munich Olympics where he won a bronze medal and then onto the Montreal games where he competed in the 5000m. Using a mixture of tactics throughout leading into it, observing the differences in European and Kenyan racing styles and how it came to blows and friendship with Steve Prefontaine. Rod then talks about his transition to road racing after New Zealand’s Olympic boycott of 1980, winning his weight in beer in Adamstown to then getting courted by Fred Lebow after placing 3rd in the 1982 World Cross Country and making the decision after absorbing the atmosphere of the New York City Marathon.
From that moment Rod made the commitment to getting absolutely focused on running the perfect race, training in Amish country and taking homemade gels to culminate in his iconic victory in the 1983 New York City Marathon.Rod’s interview concludes with the story of giving Sir Edmund Hillary a house call to remember and answering the challenge to inspire the next generation that became the genesis for the Kids Marathon Foundation, fundraising to save the local school and getting kids active while working with the Hillary Foundation, how it’s expanded over the years and why its importance is paramount to children’s development.
