A year on from her debut at the same race, Hellen Obiri wins the New York City Marathon in 2:27:23 over a tight finish over Letensenbet Gidey, with defending champion Sharon Lokedi in third place. Obiri is the first woman since 1989 to win both the Boston and New York City Marathon in the same year. Ryan Mannix is this week’s guest, chatting to Brady about how he based himself in running before pivoting into the well-known figure within yoga that he is today. Ryan harkens back to his early days getting a lot of running over the hills and his nervousness on the starting line of junior cross country running. It transitions over to meeting one of his idols in Kenya and taking up duathlon around the European circuit, until the fateful accident that left him injured, but ultimately setting him on the path towards his passion in yoga. Ryan shares his insights into some of the techniques and attributes that are pliable to running, as well as the contrasting dynamic it offers.

Brad takes some time off in Noosa before getting back into long runs.Julian navigates the crowds up in Melbourne for the marathon weekend.Brady ticks through the week and has some thoughts about the Melbourne Marathon.
Melbourne Marathon was taken out by Reece Edwards in 2:14:34, just ahead of Ryan Gregson making his marathon debut in 2:14:54, with Liam Adams third in 2:15:37 after leading out for the majority of the race.Gemma Maini had a debut to remember, winning her maiden run in the distance in 2:35:25 with previous winner Milly Clark second in 2:41:27 and Cassie Little third in 2:43:15.Both the marathon winners Reece and Gemma, pop onto the show to give what their expectations were going into the race and how it all unfolded over the distance.The half Marathon was won by Gen Gregson 1:10:07, clear of podium getters Melissa Duncan and Isobel Hume. Fellow Kenyan Benson Kipruto was second in 2:04:02 and Bashir Abdi of Belgium was third in 2:04:32. Conner Mantz was first American in 2:07:47.Sifan Hassan won in her second outing to record 2:13:44, the second-fastest marathon of all time, with defending champion Ruth Chepngetich second in 2:15:37. First American woman was Em Sisson in 2:22:09, with Molly Seidel recording a personal best of 2:23:07.
