Sam Hopper from ASICS and Road to Gold Coast fame, pops in to chat about his recent signing to AH Elite and his newfound love for Adelaide, some of the upcoming releases for ASICS as well as his own races on the horizon.
Claudia Hollingsworth had an Olympic debut to remember, qualifying outright in her 800m heat, then placing 7th in her semi final in 2:01.51. Abby Caldwell earned a reprieve in winning her repechage to go on to place 5th in 1:58.52 while Catriona Bisset was unable to advance.
Rose Davies qualified for the final of the 5000m coming third in her heat, while Izzy Batt-Doyle narrowly missed qualifying by placing ninth, while Lauren Ryan placed 11th, leaving her to focus on the upcoming 10000m.
Oli Hoare, Stewy McSweyn and Adam Spencer battled in their respective heats and repechage in their 1500m campaigns.
Cara Feain-Ryan posted a personal best of 9:28.72 in her 3000m Steeplechase heat while Amy Cashin ran 9:32.93 in her respective heat.
Charlotte Purdue of Great Britain announced her withdrawal from the Marathon, citing a rolled ankle sustained during training.

Joshua Cheptegei wins the Olympic Gold Medal in the 10000m that had long eluded him, winning in an Olympic Record time of 26:43.14, with Berihu Aregawi from Ethiopia was second and Grant Fisher from the USA won the bronze medal.
Olympics Athletics Results
Logan Janetzki won the XCR Lake Wendouree 15km in 45:24 ahead of Harry Norman and Benjamin Stevens, while Lisa Weightman was the clear winner in 48:41, ahead of Amy Robinson and Sarah Klein. In the Premier Division Teams Competition, it was the Western Athletics Men’s team, and the South Melbourne’s Women team who performed strongest.
