Listener question asks about what to focus on post-marathon before Julian debuts a new segment “Moose’s Shoe Tips” - and why you should get the best possible fit from a shoe specialist.

 

Scott McTaggart, sub 2:20 marathoner, former Point to Pinnacle record holder current Cadbury Marathon record holder and ACT runner chats with Brad about his early interest in the sport and his influences guiding him through his junior years, progressing to some junior state titles before getting picked up by the University of Texas cross country team. 

Scott talks about qualify for the Olympics, racing rival Martin Dent and then pivoting into Mountain Running to represent Australia, while Brad shares one of his earliest memories of Scott and then explaining one of the traditions running around the trails at Stromlo.

They delve into some of Scott’s training philosophies and how specificity played a major role in setting the course records in the Point to Pinnacle and the Hobart Cadbury Marathon.

From the conclusion of his professional, Scott has an open and frank discussion about dealing with his mental health issues affected by perfectionism, toxic work conditions and medications, the help he has received and what he’s done to get through to the other side.
