Rochelle Rodgers in her international debut places 35th in the World Championship Marathon, in a race that saw a high attrition rate in stifling conditions despite the midnight start.

The women’s 10000m was arguably the race of the meet so far, with Ellie Pashley running 13th and Sinead Diver 14th, while MTC teammates Susuan Krumins and Camille Buscomb places 7th and 12th respectively, with all four setting personal bests. Ellie’s time of 31:15.89 is a personal best, Tokyo Olympic qualifier and 4th best Australian of all time; Sinead 31:25.49 is also a personal best and 5th best Australian of all time.

Luke Mathews & Peter Bol in 800m were unable to advance past their heats while Morgan Mitchell advanced to 800m semis, while Catriona Bisset ran with a suspected fibula stress reaction in her heat.

Kenenisa Bekele makes an emphatic return to the Berlin Marathon, running a 2:01:41 to run just 2 seconds short of Eliud Kipchoges.
