Brady catches up with coach and writer Mario Fraioli of the Morning Shakeout newsletter & podcast about training and running California International Marathon in 2:27, setting his first PB in 11 years. Mario takes it back to getting into running via basketball and pursuing a professional running career to working at a newspaper part-time while dealing with malnutrition, injuries and the mental demons associated with bad eating habits.

Mario talks about his break into athletics journalism working on Competitor magazine covering race reports and training articles, with Brady picking his brain on interviewing athletes and uncovering their stories, before going into how he got into coaching and writing the Morning Shakeout and the transition to pursuing both full time.

Mario discusses having the tact and honesty to articulate opinions on athletics and marathoning, going into detail about who he thinks will make the USA Olympic Marathon teams and what needs to change in athletics.
