Julian comes to term with his plantar fasciitis only to get back on the horse the next day, sampling some Maurten on the way. Bri helps pace him on the sessions while getting long runs with a sore back, and the foot is managed with drastic measures.

Brad gets stuck into sessions set for Sydney:10, and the boys discuss the field, goals and predictions for the race. He meets up Telford Boys out for a Stromlo Long Run, with a shout out to Flex Out Physio in Canberra.

Brady goes in for another VO2Max study which reveals nothing of his sordid past, before his coach sets him into big tempo session.

In running news, Galen Rupp heads to Prague after his Boston DNF while the big race of the week was the Hamburg Marathon, winner Solomon Deksisa crossing the line in 2:06, and some big names appear further down the field.

Australian World Champs marathon representative Jack Colreavy comes 30th after a 1:06 first half, leading into a discussion and Moose on the Loose about the interpretations on pacing strategies.

This week’s listener question comes from Allan Peacock, asking about what the key developments to arise from Arthur Lydiard’s teachings, the boys musing on the effect it’s had on modern training philosophies.

Jake Robertson is this week’s guest joining us with a thus far amazing 2018, chatting with Brad after their first encounter at Lake Biwa Marathon. Jake generously goes into his training structure and methodologies, while recapping some of his races on the road and setting the New Zealand 10,000m record at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

He recounts the moment he and twin brother Zane decided on moving to Kenya to train, the relationship between them and Athletics New Zealand, racing Eliud Kipchoge at cross country and attending training camps.

Jake expands upon his philosophies on competing and coaching talks about his long term plans, sharing his daily life and training on Instagram, having a relaxed mindset and doing things differently to society’s expectations.
