Brad interviews this week’s guest Chris Hamer. Chris was an under 20s Australian junior cross country champion in 2006/07 and also was selected for the 2014 Comm Games 10km but had to withdraw with injury. Since then he has relocated from Melbourne to Canberra and is now coached by Dick Telford. Chris has a 13:58 5km PB and recently ran a 2:13:32 marathon in Amsterdam to qualify for this year’s Comm Games Marathon. The interview discusses:
- Chris’ switch from 10km to marathon distance
- what it takes to compete at the elite level
- how he dealt with injury setbacks
- training and preparation for the Amsterdam Marathon
- nutritional strategy beforehand and fueling during the event
